reflecting on a moment of clarity

This was my first project where I was able to truly use the gifts I’ve been given to help people. It was one of my senior projects in college. I took the pictures on a mission trip to Kenya I had gone on a few years before. After the project was complete, printed and bound, I stood there holding this piece in my hands (a 6″ x 6″ booklet). A moment of clarity, one might call it, came over me. You see I made the mistake that I couldn’t make a real difference in Africa or other third world countries unless I was a doctor or something of the sort – someone who could heal. No, I was called to do something of a different trade – creating beautiful things that raise awareness for those in need and being apart of the catalist that inspires action from those who could heal. This visual way of communicating is my gift. This is the piece started it all.
